Definition

Plain language

An off-the-shelf tool for spotting doctored photographs.

As stated in the literature

An image-forensics model that localizes manipulations using learned noise-residual and RGB cues; tuned for splicing and copy-move, and consequently near-blind to diffusion-edited regions.

Why it matters: It represents the practical state of automated photo verification, so knowing what it can and can't see tells you which fakes will get flagged and which will sail through.

For example, run a spliced photo through it and it highlights the pasted-in region as suspicious.
