Plain language
In poker, betting with a hand that isn't good yet but could become strong, so you can win either by bluffing now or by hitting your card later.
As stated in the literature
A bet made with a drawing hand that has meaningful equity to improve; profitable because it can win immediately via fold equity or later by completing the draw.
Why it matters: It gives a player two ways to win the same pot, making aggressive play with unfinished hands profitable.
For example, a player holding four cards toward a flush might bet hard now, hoping opponents fold but knowing they can still win if the flush card arrives.
