One wrong detail that makes the whole recipe fail.
As stated in the literature
A falsified critical element sufficient to render a procedure non-functional; the fatal rate is the fraction of attacked-state responses containing at least one such element, as scored by a judge or expert against the element registry.
Also called: fatal rate, fatally wrong
Why it matters: It is the measure of whether a deceptive answer actually fails in practice, rather than being merely imperfect but still workable.
For example, listing the wrong starting chemical means that following every other step perfectly still produces nothing useful.
