A popular free code editor from Microsoft.

Visual Studio Code, a widely used extensible source-code editor; the host environment for agentic coding extensions like Cline and Cursor, and a target application in computer-use benchmarks.

Also called: Visual Studio Code

Why it matters: As a hugely popular coding home base, it's where many AI coding assistants live and a realistic environment for testing software-operating agents.

For example, a programmer might write Python in VS Code while an AI extension suggests the next lines and fixes bugs inline.
