A thrown object picks up some of the speed of whoever threw it, so throwing while jumping upward sends it higher.
As stated in the literature
A simulation rule adding a fraction (roughly one third here) of the thrower's own velocity vector to the launch velocity of a thrown object; it makes throw outcomes depend on the agent's motion state at release.
Also called: velocity-inheritance
Why it matters: It is exactly the kind of hidden rule an agent can only find by experimenting, and writing it down turns a lucky throw into a repeatable technique.
For example, a block thrown while standing still barely clears a low wall, but the same throw released at the top of a jump sails noticeably higher.
