Definition
Plain language
A standard method for cleaning up noisy gene-activity measurements from single cells.
As stated in the literature
A diffusion-based imputation algorithm for denoising sparse single-cell RNA-seq data; hyperparameter-heavy, used as a base method in self-improving AI experiments.
Why it matters: It rescues usable signal from sparse, noisy biological data, and its many tunable settings make it a target for automated improvement.
For example, when single-cell gene readings are full of zeros and noise, it fills in plausible values so patterns across cells become visible.
