As stated in the literature
Open-source stateful agent framework (successor to MemGPT) that manages tiered memory, editing and paging context in and out of the model's window across sessions.
Why it matters: Frameworks like this are what let an assistant carry knowledge across sessions instead of starting from scratch every time the window fills up.
For example, a support assistant built on Letta can recall a customer's product model from a conversation three weeks ago without that conversation being pasted back in.
