Definition

Plain language

The main worldwide programming contest for university teams.

As stated in the literature

International Collegiate Programming Contest; judged with binary accept/reject verdicts per submission, giving far sparser feedback than subtask-scored olympiads.

Also called: International Collegiate Programming Contest

Why it matters: Its all-or-nothing verdicts make it a much harsher search problem than partial-credit contests, since a failed attempt tells you almost nothing about how to fix it.

For example, a three-person university team submits a program and gets back only "accepted" or "rejected," with no hint about which cases failed.

Heard on the show

“The researchers also test the loop on the International Collegiate Programming Contest, the major university competition.”
