Definition

Plain language

The way a computer organizes and stores its files and folders.

As stated in the literature

The OS layer mapping paths to stored data; agent workspaces that share a filesystem with evaluation code can leak task information unless isolation is enforced.

Also called: file system, filesystems

Why it matters: Sharing a filesystem between an agent and the code evaluating it quietly invalidates results, so isolation is the difference between a real test and a leaked one.

For example, if an AI agent being tested can see the folder holding the grading script, it can read the answer key instead of solving the task.

Heard on the show

“A multi-agent collaboration document the model finds in the file system.”
