Definition

Plain language

Wiping the running conversation so the assistant starts fresh, with no memory of what was just said.

As stated in the literature

Clearing the accumulated conversation history between episodes; in this setup the agent's weights are frozen and only on-disk memory files survive the reset, which isolates written experience as the sole carrier of learning across hours.

Also called: conversation reset, resets the conversation, hourly reset

Why it matters: It cleanly separates what the model already knew from what it actually learned and recorded, since anything that survives the wipe had to be deliberately written down.

For example, after an hour of exploring, the assistant's whole conversation is wiped, so the only thing it knows the next hour is what it wrote into its notes file before the lights went out.

Heard on the show

“And that hourly reset creates the experiment's most useful constraint.”
