Definition
Plain language
A saved snapshot of code changes, with a note about what changed.
As stated in the literature
An atomic recorded change in a version-control history; per-experiment commits give an auditable trail of what an agent actually tried.
Also called: commits, code commit
Why it matters: It gives you an auditable trail of exactly what was tried and when, so surprising results can be traced back to the change that caused them.
For example, after changing a training setting and rerunning an experiment, an agent saves a commit labeled "raised learning rate to 3e-4" so the change and its result stay linked.
