Definition

Plain language

Amazon's cloud service for running large language models through an API.

As stated in the literature

Amazon Web Services' managed foundation-model API platform, used as the inference backend for several frontier LLMs including Anthropic's Claude family.

Also called: Bedrock

Why it matters: Bedrock is one of the main ways enterprises access frontier models without changing their cloud provider or data-residency story.

For example, a startup might call Claude through Bedrock instead of going to Anthropic directly so it can keep its data inside its AWS environment.
