Definition

Classifier-Free Guidance (CFG) is an inference-time steering technique for conditional generative models that blends the model’s conditional and unconditional output distributions to amplify the influence of a conditioning signal. By interpolating — or extrapolating — between the two, it trades sample diversity for stronger adherence to the prompt, and the technique transfers directly from image diffusion to text latent diffusion without architectural changes.
