AI Bias & Fairness is the research area concerned with identifying, measuring, and mitigating systematic disparities in how AI systems treat different groups or individuals. It spans technical work on fairness metrics and debiasing algorithms as well as broader debates about which notions of fairness are appropriate for a given deployment, since statistical definitions of fairness can conflict with one another.
